Emily Woods is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner whose passion for prevention began early in her nursing career while working on the inpatient oncology unit at UConn Health. There, she saw patients diagnosed with cancer at advanced stages and witnessed individuals whose cancer treatment was made more challenging by poor underlying health prior to diagnosis. These experiences sparked a deep appreciation for the importance of prevention and how she could help patients take a more proactive role in their health.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Messiah University (formerly Messiah College) and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Connecticut. Her career as a Nurse Practitioner began in pediatric primary care, where she spent five years caring for children of all ages and supporting their families. She later transitioned to medical weight management and metabolic rehabilitation, where she focused on lifestyle medicine and helping patients address the underlying factors that influence long-term health.

She is passionate about helping patients and families understand their health, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions, and encouraging and guiding them throughout their journey. She believes in building trusting relationships through compassionate, collaborative care and meeting patients where they are to support meaningful, sustainable health outcomes. Emily also recognizes that physical and mental health are deeply connected and believes in caring for the whole person. To Emily, good health is about more than preventing and treating illness—it is about having the physical and mental health to fully enjoy the life you are building.

Outside of the office, Emily enjoys spending time with her two golden retrievers, traveling, being with her family, and time outdoors. She especially loves traveling to Kenya to visit her brother and his family, walking her pups, and putzing in her backyard.
