Dr. Amanda Gomes knew she wanted to help others early in life. She enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard directly following high school as a culinary specialist. Service in the Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean fortified her passion for optimizing health through nutrition. She left active duty to study neuroscience at the University of Scranton and proposed independent research examining physiologic changes in varying energy expenditures of healthy participants. She was fascinated by the unpredicted variations and knew she wanted to pursue a career in medicine that honored individuality.
Dr. Gomes earned a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine and a master’s degree in nutritional science from the University of Bridgeport. Her passion in practice is discovering the underlying causes of symptoms and restoring balance by working alongside her patients. She believes the therapeutic relationship between doctor and patient is not only an opportunity to educate but also empower individuals to create nutritional and lifestyle adaptations that promote optimal health and prevent chronic disease progression.
Dr. Gomes is currently still serving in the Coast Guard Reserve at Sector Long Island Sound in New Haven, Connecticut. During her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and their dogs to explore nature, culture, and cuisine. Dr. Gomes is excited to join the strong team of physicians at Collaborative Natural Health Partners and looks forward to helping patients achieve their health goals.
