What is Health Coaching?

Health coaches fill a special niche within the health care team. Coaches help fill the gap between the providers recommendations and implementing them into day-to-day life.

The real work is done outside of the medical office. The health coach mentors, inspires, supports, empowers, and collaborates with clients to set goals and then coaches clients through obstacles, barriers, mindset, and habits that affect significant lifestyle change. Health coaches work closely with their clients to achieve their specific vision of health and wellness. Health coaches are the experts of lifestyle change.

About Coach Sierra

Sierra Cameron studied Allied Health Science at the University of Connecticut. While at UConn she also was a member of the Women’s Track & Field team. She received her RN at Quinnipiac University in their Accelerated Nursing Program. After graduating she worked at Hartford Hospital in their largest medicine unit working with a diverse population and array of medical conditions. During her time here she realized her calling was aligned with functional medicine, patient empowerment, and educating patients on creating a healthy lifestyle.

Sierra then enrolled in the Institute of Functional Medicine Coaching Academy to become a Functional Medicine Health Coach. She collaborates with patients to facilitate healthy lifestyle habits, empower others, and provide support on the journey of health and wellness. As a health coach she offers tools and accountability for clients to help them understand and comply to their doctor’s plan of care in the context of their life. She serves as a guide for clients as they make dietary changes, food plans, and changes to their physical activity.

In her free time, she enjoys training for CrossFit, cooking, creating pottery, hiking, and spending time with friends, family, and dog.
