What Is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a gentle system of medicine that supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It uses highly diluted substances derived from plants, minerals, or other natural sources, selected based on a person’s unique physical, emotional, and mental symptoms. Rather than treating a diagnosis alone, homeopathy treats the whole person.
Principles of Homeopathy
Like Cures Like
Homeopathy is based on the principle of “like cures like,” meaning a substance that can cause symptoms in a healthy person may help relieve similar symptoms in someone who is unwell when used in very small doses. For example, arnica can cause bruising and soreness in large amounts, but in homeopathic form it is commonly used to support healing after injury or trauma.
Individualized Treatment
Remedies are chosen based on the full picture of symptoms, including physical complaints, emotional patterns, stress responses, and sensitivities. Two people with the same diagnosis may receive different remedies.
Minimum Dose
Homeopathic remedies are prepared through dilution and succussion, allowing them to act gently without overwhelming the body.
Who Can Benefit From Homeopathy?
Homeopathy may be helpful for people of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and seniors. It is commonly used to support concerns such as anxiety and stress, digestive issues, hormonal and menstrual concerns, sleep disturbances, acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions as part of a comprehensive care plan.
Safety of Homeopathy
Homeopathic remedies are considered very safe when used appropriately and under the guidance of a trained practitioner. They are non-toxic, non-habit forming, and generally safe to use alongside conventional medications, making them suitable for sensitive individuals, including children and pregnant patients (with professional guidance).
First Appointment & Follow-Up Visits
First Appointment (60 minutes)
The initial appointment is a one-hour visit focused on understanding your full symptom picture, including physical, emotional, and mental patterns, as well as health history and current concerns. Remedy selection is individualized and completed after the visit. Your homeopathic remedy and dosing instructions will be provided within 24 hours of the appointment.
Follow-Up Appointments (30 minutes)
Follow-up visits assess your response to the remedy, including changes in symptoms, energy, mood, sleep, and overall well-being. Remedies may be continued, adjusted, or changed based on your response.
What to Expect After Taking a Remedy
People can respond in different ways after starting a homeopathic remedy. All responses provide helpful information.
- No noticeable change – This usually means the remedy was not the correct match. We will reassess and select a new remedy.
- Positive improvements – Improvements in symptoms, energy, mood, or overall well-being suggest the remedy is working.
- Mild symptom aggravation – A temporary increase in current symptoms may occur and is often a sign the correct remedy was chosen, though the potency may be too strong. This should be mild and last no longer than 72 hours. If it persists, please send a portal message.
- Discharge or release response – Mild, short-lived responses such as emotional release, loose stools, or the brief return of old symptoms may occur within the first few days. This indicates the healing process has begun.
- Negative reaction (rare) – Occurs in approximately 2–3% of people. Symptoms worsen and new symptoms may appear while taking the remedy and resolve when it is discontinued. If this happens, stop the remedy and contact the office.
Homeopathy as Part of Holistic Care
Homeopathy can be used alone or alongside nutrition, lifestyle support, botanical medicine, and conventional care. The goal is to support balance, resilience, and long-term healing by addressing the whole person.
