What Is It?
Microneedling creates micro-injuries to the skin and this stimulates collagen and elastin growth. This will plump and thicken the skin and reduce the appearance of scars, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines. Microneedling gives the skin more volume, lightens and brightens, and causes cells to turnover quicker. PRP is platelet rich plasma. The PRP acts as a serum created by your own blood, which contains growth factors.
What Is It Used For?
There are many benefits of this treatment including the reduction of acne scars, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, improvements in the skin’s texture, and improving the elasticity and volume of the skin.
What Can I Expect During The Treatment?
Prior to the treatment, the patient’s blood is drawn, and then spun to allow the PRP to be extracted. The patient’s face is then numbed well using a topical anesthetic to minimize any pain or discomfort during the treatment.
What Can I Expect Post Treatment?
Unlike many other cosmetic procedures, there is relatively very little down time. You can expect your skin to be red for a day or two after treatment. You will need to avoid using any harsh skin care products such as acids for 3-5 days post treatment. You will also need to avoid the sun for 72 hours post treatment.
How Often Should I Repeat The Procedure?
While you can expect to se results after your first treatment, the benefits are the best if you repeat treatments every 4-6 weeks for at least 3 treatment. After a few treatments you can space subsequent treatments out every 6-12 months for maintenance.
