Teal Pumpkin Project
The teal pumpkin project was started to bring awareness to those who suffer from life threatening food allergies and the danger that Halloween trick-or-treating can bring to those affected. Not only is Halloween candy laden with sugar bugs, but most contain nuts, soy and dairy, all which can be dangerous to those with food allergies.
How to participate
Easy!! Paint your pumpkin teal! Or, in my case, I painted a baby pumpkin teal in addition to having the traditional jack-o-lantern. This is indication to families who are trick-or-treating with food sensitive children that you will be offering non treat or allergy sensitive treats.
Allergy Friendly Treats
- Mini plain bags of lays potato chips
- Mini tubs of play dough
- Quarters
- Stick on tattoos
- Super balls
- Bubbles
- Kazoo
- Yo-Yo’s
We are handing out Halloween pencils, stickers, erasers, spider rings and of course glow in the dark bats! I purchased everything at the local dollar store for $10, the price of 2 bags of regular candy!
